Around 7000 BC between the villages of Nikola-Lenivets and Zvizzhi channel of Ugra river formed a giant meander — natural geoglyph (about 3 km in diameter) which looks like a letter of the Greek alphabet — Alpha (α) and Omega (Ω). As a result of changes in the river flow, a field which offers a fascinating panorama, surrounded by a labyrinth of forestlands, was formed.&#60;img width="2656" height="945" width_o="2656" height_o="945" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e6da107bb314a2fb221300494e15fa7535306533afe74f51e6a4c8e147a0fc70/portfolio-26.jpg" data-mid="136884302" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e6da107bb314a2fb221300494e15fa7535306533afe74f51e6a4c8e147a0fc70/portfolio-26.jpg" /&#62;

Forest development. Two figures appearance

The task for “Green platform” was to find and apply new forms of man’s work with natural landscape. The environment of our project’s area was assumed as a subject of interactivity of human being and nature. A genesis of synergistic action in which natural processes and human aspirations interact with each other opens the way for new experience.
Geographical and environmental studies were conducted by many groups of student from different universities for enormous area of 25 hectares. Landscape map was composed with complete description of the territory’s flora and fauna. Students were searching for natural structures, ehich can be associated with architectural forms.
Students’ works became a part of the “Green platform” project, reflecting main conceptual principles of it.
Most projects are made as natural compositions, where the building material consists of lively forms of environment, whether it is dense forest, air or water.

		<description>8th pavilion

Project description:
Summer pavillion for local school of architecture
Place:
Moscow, Russia
Function:
Educational
Area:
300 m2

Materials:Wood, steel profiles,

anodized aluminium,

natural stone
Role:
Co-author in collaboration with Andrey Adamovich and Ivan ShilnikovThe pavilion designed as a spatial game of fill and void. Main idea of the prject is based on the concept of education itself.

Depending on many factors learning process may occur in two main scenarios: in the form of constraint and as a free cognition. During the educational process person is usually found in various kinds of research: search for information, search for new experience, search for a knowledge...

In our opinion Russian culture in general is in the same condition, being for all times in the process of self-identification.
For these reasons we set out to create an impression of illusive space which is open to any type of research.
To achieve this and to build our pavilion in relation to the park structure, we decided to create a system consisting of two volumes and combined by cross-hair galleries. As a result our pavilion consists out of tangible and intangible spaces: multi-purpose hall, and an outdoor garden.

Movable walls of the hall covered on the outside with sheets of glassy metal. This material combined with a gallery made out of white wood helped us to achieve subtle effect of the “real” volume.

WOWHAUS architectural bureau’s project Urban farm was created as a soft tool for children and their parents to learn about nature and agriculture in an informal manner within the playful environment.
&#60;img width="812" height="1000" width_o="812" height_o="1000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/cb8de1256ada5ee01425f5e6b5e67858082c3255ce11fb3b2b79587058431ad0/farm_slide_11_.jpg" data-mid="136884321" border="0" data-scale="65" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/812/i/cb8de1256ada5ee01425f5e6b5e67858082c3255ce11fb3b2b79587058431ad0/farm_slide_11_.jpg" /&#62;Site plan (courtesy of WOWHAUS)

Located in VDNH park area and continuing the sequence of historical pavilions, farm has become an additional attraction for the visitors.

The site itself has a long time story of being an agricultural center - during soviet period fishing pounds and many other animal facilities were located here. New concept was based on transforming the territory from its factory-like image into intense and friendly natural environment.

&#60;img width="1200" height="800" width_o="1200" height_o="800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/dcb9bd555a791acd957894ea67bed427b7cc1265735da921e59490ac9c2c7bd8/242211.jpg" data-mid="136884338" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/dcb9bd555a791acd957894ea67bed427b7cc1265735da921e59490ac9c2c7bd8/242211.jpg" /&#62;Most pavilions took their place around renovated pound in the middle of the site.

In barns one can find domestic animals, feed them and take care under the guidance of professional keepers. Apart from direct interaction with animals, there are lots of other possibilities: children can enjoy landscape-embedded playground while their parents having coffee in farmers cafe. <description>Ruin

Project description:
Exhibition demonstrating the design approach and richness of museum's building
Place:
Moscow, Russia
Function:
Cultural
Area:
445 m2

Materials:Steel structure, gypsum boards, wooden floors, metal plates
Role:
Architectural designer, co-author as a member of RDNK architects

An exhibition “Ruin” by RDNK architects was held in the eponymous annex of the Shchusev Museum of Architecture.
This building was erected at the end of 18th century as a part of urban estates ensemble belonging to Talyzin family. It was a stable at those times.&#38;nbsp;In the early 30’s of 20th century “Talyzins house” was transformed into residential purposes building and the annex became a communal apartment.

Since the establishment of the Schusev State Museum of Russian architecture in 1945, the building was forwarded to museum, and in 1948 it was taken under state protection.

In the XX century as a result of state’s neglect to the objects of culture, museum building has fallen into decay, the annex turned into a ruin.

Since 2000 the museum was directed by David Sarkisyan. The idea of using this ruined building as a space for exhibitions belongs to him. Since then, the annex has been called “Ruin” with a capital “R”, which transferred it from economic neglection category to an independent aesthetic and cultural value.

&#60;img width="3456" height="2304" width_o="3456" height_o="2304" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b7887fccf8deb2aff4a59a898e3121c99049cc263f49eff7bc466060bf384631/IMG_1871.jpg" data-mid="136884340" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b7887fccf8deb2aff4a59a898e3121c99049cc263f49eff7bc466060bf384631/IMG_1871.jpg" /&#62;

Together with Schusev museum team, architects from RDNK decided to focus on ruins historical and contemporary value instead of office’s work itself.
Thus, building of Ruin became the main object of exhibition, together with significant examples of abandoned and damaged structures of our civilization.

&#60;img width="2762" height="1417" width_o="2762" height_o="1417" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/65fae1b6894ae1d7c05639df8cd5be6d4e55ad38a41c1b6a89815db9f1f45149/portfolio-19.jpg" data-mid="136884349" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/65fae1b6894ae1d7c05639df8cd5be6d4e55ad38a41c1b6a89815db9f1f45149/portfolio-19.jpg" /&#62;
Ruin examples
Project “Involvement” was an alternative option for exposing the building’s body — a tool designed to create two different atmospheres, in which there are no barriers for perception.

The first atmosphere is “total contemplation” inside the old Annex. In this part of the journey visitors are on the detached “island” that turns all surrounding space and all it’s parts into an art object.

Then, after a pause (bridge crossing), we can find ouselves in a completely different environment. The most appropriate name for it is “closeness”. Closeness of another ruined building structures to the lively and active modern life.

With such close contact with a visitor ruin becomes an integral part of what is happening at this particular moment. For a person who walked along this way, the concept of “Ruin” must change. It should no longer be considered just as an object passed into oblivion or a pile of useless material...

Ruin is a part of cultural code which still lives in us.

The mountain

Project description:
Mountain landscape and fascilities rennovation idias competition
Place:
Salerno, Italy
Function:
Cultural, landscape
Area:
1100 ha
Materials:

Steel profiles, metal plates, glazing, natural stone paving
Role:
Author

Following the paths, traced by stars above, we can explore our mountain, our planet, our sky, our nature, our universe and ourselves.

This project is a constantly on-going journey through the landscape of Bulgheria mountain. The journey that will encourage visitors and local communities to meet, debate, cooperate and look together into our common future.

&#60;img width="2398" height="848" width_o="2398" height_o="848" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b19c36eafdc23d5a4c2c6a2a6d6b82ffd690fb0e69152139bdf03e7b52cd4887/Feel-the-mountain-11.jpg" data-mid="136884371" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b19c36eafdc23d5a4c2c6a2a6d6b82ffd690fb0e69152139bdf03e7b52cd4887/Feel-the-mountain-11.jpg" /&#62;"Feel the mountain" is a concept where we propose to rethink the idea of scale: look at the mountain not only as a space — landscape/territory, but as a subject too — symbol of returning man to nature. Diverse scale of exploring the mountain let us feel the connection to nature (small -scale), explore the landscape in intellectual and physical way (medium scale) and be part of the universe (large-scale).

To connect these three scales one constellation of stars (asterism) should be chosen for each period of the year, according to the Earth position and thus according to stars arrangement of the sky. This constellation should be «mirrored» on the Bulgheria mountain’s surface. This way we incorporate the geometry of the universe into the landscape, uniting all levels of scale in one. Every month we can create a new path, using asterisms, to explore the mountain’s different places and viewpoints, not only by traveling through those permanently changing paths, but also by using this variety of spots for different activities.

Asterism’s silhouette help us to create net on the landscape for indoor and outdoor activities. Main part of future outdoor activities of any kind — from music shows to agricultural researchers talk — will take place on those net centers (stars reflection) during eventful festivals or «quite» periods, when territory is mostly used by locals and few groups of researchers and tourists. At the same time jazzis will operate full year and should act as multifunctional hubs, which suits interests and can be useful for all - visitors and local community.

3. Bath

This small partly burried into the ground jazzi on northern part of our site is a quite but important destination.

Bathing and swimming on top of the mountain should be an exciting adventure for both — lonely calm process with opportunity to enjoy the amazing view, but also for meeting people in an unusual environment of today.

Church rennovation
Place:
Kaluga region, Russia
Function:
Public, Religious
Area:

Materials:

Corten steel, anodized aluminium

Role:

This project is a reincornation of an old abandoned church in Kaluga region.

The general goal was to rethink certain requirements of the Orthodox Church in relation to the modern religious architecture. Thus, the concept of air domes and twinkling icons originated.

The design of domes which were rising above this kind of Orthodox churches previously was assumed to be a two layered structure. So there was a difference between the inside and the outside shape of the roof. The new cupola is a metaphor of this difference.

Icons in refectory are made of perforated metal. The backside of these structures is made for traditional candles placement. This allows not only to give a new experience of church's decoration perception, but also to make the icon itself touchable and accessible for sightless people.

Project description:
Historical district rennovation
Place:
Moscow, Russia
Function:
Public, Recreational, Domestic, Religious
Area:
16 ha
Role:
Co-author. In collaboration with Anna Siprikova and Magdalini Giannakidi

The Zaryadye district was populated by people, whom we would call the middle class: salesmen, craftsmen, mid-level merchants, etc. Alongside with it interesting to mention that first representative office of foreign state in Russia appeared in this area. As a result variety of religious communities appeared: Orthodox churches, Anglican Church and Synagogue. In many historical references this area was mentioned as a social protests center.

For these reasons main goal of a new concept was to reactivate the project’s area as a public-oriented environment. Caught between two important public spaces (Slavyanskaya and Red squares) Zaryadye, for the moment of project’s creation, was absolutely cut off from the city life. Thus, in the above-mentioned areas with large numbers of people, we could see the lack of recreational areas. Looking for ways to resolve issues mentioned above, the concept of interlacing was born. An urban structure, which scale came from the Middle Ages intersects with the new green urban fabric.

Holy Earth

Holy Earth project is an identification of history and philosophy of one's most immemorial cultures – Hebrew civilization.
Since its origin in Mesopotamia till our times the ability to interact with different cultures, due to lack of their own land, was one of the key features of Jewish people. Probably that is the main reason of such reverent attitude to the main and most memorable Jews location after the Exodus from Egypt – Jerusalem.
At this time Hebrew culture was able to fully express oneself in both spiritual and materialistic ways. Solomon’s temple – first monumental Hebrew religious building – has become the real symbol of that expression.
Before Solomon’s temple was erected Jewish religious structures were made as built-up constructions, oriented on nomadic way of life. Those temporary structures determine a fundamental spatial organization principle of the Solomon’s temple – step-by-step space development in which you need to go through the series of rooms to reach the most holy place.
Symbolism and hierarchy of this spatial organization scheme actually distances it from the Hebrew religion concept. The concept which is tolerant to variable interpretations of holy writings by different believers. In other words freedom of world’s perception by different people is the key principle of Jewish culture in general. Search of your own way of living, variety of answers to meaningful questions are the main Hebrew culture characteristics.

&#60;img width="2126" height="1417" width_o="2126" height_o="1417" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/6e08647f36ca7ec3c9a63cd478dba54e09d0e71866651b99111b861c20b4043a/exterior_3_.jpg" data-mid="136884413" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/6e08647f36ca7ec3c9a63cd478dba54e09d0e71866651b99111b861c20b4043a/exterior_3_.jpg" /&#62;
Based on those particular principles project's concept of the new temple has occurred – labyrinth-like space which is able to provide a variety of ways and moving directions to every visitor – equally for those who came intentionally or occasionally.
Visible surfaces along the way to the central space represent the text – Torah – first five books of canonical Hebrew and Christian Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Walls of the new temple are made of large-sized rammed earth blocks stabilised by concrete add – material-metaphor symbolizing the striving of Jewish people for their own land through all the history.
After the labyrinth visitors&#38;nbsp;passing through enter &#38;nbsp;the main temple space, however this travel is not hierarchical as Solomon’s temple spatial journey was.The new temple stands on the history and tradition of Hebrew civilization but at the same time it should not be just a space for religious ceremonies. It should be a place for every visitor with different mindset to chose his own path.

What cruelty is?

What could be a result of fanaticism?

Is it possible to feel the pain and fear of other people?

How to talk about mistakes of the past and remember them?

The Red Terror project is an attempt to prevent the possibility of future violence by committing a violent act over the forest - one of the main temples of nature.

We came to the forest and imposed our will by taking away its part by a flat plane of our permanent beliefs, desires and needs...

A square of once living trees, which have saved their forms and meanings rather than the former true life, should remind us about dangerous power within us. A power, which should be treated with caution and determination of correct ways of its application.
